Iowa River Call welcomes you!
Iowa River Call is a project designed to bring fourth graders in the Iowa River watershed to the riverside for informational and inspirational sessions at no cost to local school systems. The goal of the project is to inspire students to fall in love with the river. Iowa River Call will bus fourth graders, their teachers, and parent chaperons to sites along the river where they will be met by volunteer college students, faculty, and community members camping there. These individuals will use their skills as scientists, artists, and storytellers at a series of stations designed to engage students with the animals, plants, beauty, and stories of the river. The day-long event will occur in May, near the end of the school year. The intention is to create an annual event, occurring throughout the Iowa River watershed.
